What health services are covered by the Compulsory Health Plan in the contributory scheme (POS-C)?
Specific conditions are set forth between articles 44 and 57 of the Agreement 08 of 2009 issued by the Health Regulation Commission - CRES, which is generally for the attention of any population group and for all diseases with the activities, procedures and interventions listed in Annex 2 of that agreement, supplies, materials, equipment and biomedical devices needed for its implementation. Drugs are listed in Annex 1 of the same agreement. Comprehensive Care Guidelines for health promotion and disease prevention are also part of the POS-C.
What health services are covered by the Compulsory Health Plan in the subsidized scheme (POS-S)?
If the members of this scheme are under 18, they are entitled to the Compulsory Health Plan- Contributory Scheme. For people over 18 years, the plan covers the activities, procedures, interventions, drugs and supplies for certain population groups, diseases, cases and events in accordance with the coverage outlined in the Agreement 08 of 2009 issued by the Health Regulation Commission - CRES, between sections 58 and 70. It is important to inform you that what it is not included, it’s covered by the state through the Secretaries and / or Health Directorates of the Department.
What are the medicines they are entitled to the members of the Social Security System in Health, SGSSS?
If you are in the contributory scheme or if you are under 18 years old in the subsidized scheme, drugs are described in the list contained in Annex 1 in Agreement No 008 of the Health Regulation Commission-CRES- if they are prescribed by a doctor from your EPS and comply with the characteristics of active principles, concentration and dosage form as they are described in the POS drug list, in addition to complying with the contents of the prescription, as provided in Articles 16 and 17 of Decree 2200 of 2005.
If you are in the subsidized scheme and you are over 18 years old, medications are listed in Annex 1 of Agreement 008 of the CRES, as long as the cases, events and procedures are covered by the subsidized regime described POS in Title IV of the Agreement 008 of the Health Regulation Commission-CRES.

Medicines are those included in Annex 1 of the aforementioned agreement. Also belonging to POS-C, are the Comprehensive Attention Guides for both health promotion and disease prevention.
¿Which health services are covered by the Compulsory Health Plan on the Subsidized Regime, POS – S?
If those who are affiliated are under 18 years old, they are entitled to the Compulsory Health Plan on the Contributive Regime. For those who are 18 or older, the Subsidized Regime will cover activities, procedures, interventions, medicine and supplies for determined population groups, pathologies, cases and events according with the coverage stated on Agreement 08 of 2009 issued by the Regulatory Health Commission (CRES in Spanish), from articles 58 to 70. It is important to let users know that what it is not included in the coverage, will be afforded by the State through the Local Health Authorities (Health Secretariats and Directions in each Department)
What medicine are those affiliated to the General System of Social Security on Health (Spanish SGSSS) entitled to?
If the person belongs to the Contributive Regime or is under 18 years old and belongs to the Subsidized Regime, medicines will be those described in the content listed on Annex 1 of Agreement 008 of the Health Regulatory Commission (CRES in Spanish) as long as they are prescribed by a physician of the corresponding Healthcare Provide Institution (IPS in Spanish) and fulfill with the characteristics of active principle, concentration and pharmaceutical form as they are described in the Compulsory Health Plan Medicines List, apart from fulfilling with the contents of the prescription, as stated by articles 16 and 17 of Decree 2200 of 2005.
If the person belongs to the Subsidized Regime and is 18 years old or older, medicines will be those listed in Annex 1 of Agreement 008 of the Health Regulatory Commission (CRES in Spanish), as long as the events and procedures are stated in the Compulsory Health Plan (POS in Spanish) for the Subsidized Regime as described on Chapter IV of Agreement 008 of the Health Regulatory Commission (CRES in Spanish).
What is the coverage in mental health?
If the person belongs to the Contributive Regime or is under 18 years old and belongs to the Subsidized Regime, services cover psychiatric emergency attention, management in the “DAYTIME HOSPITAL” (Hospital de Día in Spanish) program, hospital admission during the acute phase of the disease or in case that the person´s own life or other´s may be jeopardized. By an acute phase is understood the period that can be extended up to 30 admittance days. About ambulatory attention, there will be coverage in activities, interventions and procedures as stated in Annex 2 and medicines listed in Annex 1 of Agreement 08 of 2009.
If the person belongs to the Subsidized Regime and is 18 years old or older, initial attention in psychiatric urgency will be provided.
Does the Compulsory Health Plan have coverage on cancer?
Cancer is regarded as a high-cost disease and its management is covered in the Compulsory Health Plan of the Contributive Regime, POS-C, as stated in the conditions established on Agreement 08 of 2009, article 52 and for the Compulsory Health Plan of the Subsidized Regime in article 61 of the aforementioned agreement.
Is domiciliary attention included in the Compulsory Health Plan?
As long as domiciliary attention is taken as a modality that benefits the affiliate and improves his/her life quality, this service will be covered only if the Healthcare Provider Entity (EPS in Spanish) guarantees this service under quality guidelines which are proper for each case and in agreement with the conditions and contents of the Compulsory Health Plan for each regime.
Are earphones included in the Compulsory Health Plan?
If the person belongs to the Contributive Regime or is under 18 years old and belongs to the Subsidized Regime, earphones will be included in the Compulsory Health Plan since they are necessary for the ASSESSMENT AND ADAPTATION OF PROSTHESIS AND HEARING AIDS procedure, as coded under number 954801 in Annex 2 of Agreement 008 of 2009 of the Health Regulatory Commission (CRES in Spanish) and their provision will be subject to available technology in the country.
If the person belongs to the Subsidized Regime and is 18 years old or older, s/he is not entitled to these devices.
